About Universal Pure
Q: When was Universal Pure founded, and how has the company evolved into a leading HPP and cold-chain services provider in the U.S.?
A: Universal Pure was founded in 2001 as one of the first U.S. companies dedicated exclusively to High Pressure Processing (HPP). Over more than two decades, the company has grown from a single-facility tolling provider into the nation’s largest network of HPP and cold-chain service centers. Today, Universal Pure operates seven facilities across the country, offering a fully integrated suite of services that include HPP, cold storage, beverage co-packing, tempering, inventory management, date-coding and labeling, secondary packaging, and more. This evolution reflects our commitment to helping food and beverage brands safely extend shelf life, reduce waste, and deliver fresher, cleaner-label products to consumers.
Q: What core mission drives Universal Pure today, and how does HPP fit into your vision of “helping create a safer, higher-quality food system”?
A: Our mission is simple but powerful: to help create a safer, higher quality food system. Everything we do supports that purpose. HPP is central to this mission because it delivers food safety and shelf-life extension without heat or preservatives. By using cold water and pressure instead of chemicals or thermal treatment, we help protect product freshness, flavor, and nutrition, as well as consumer trust in our customers’ brands.
HPP Investment
Q: Which customer needs, product categories, or volume growth trends most influenced the decision to purchase an additional Hiperbaric 525i unit?
A: We continue to see strong growth across categories such as fresh pet food, premium proteins, dips and spreads, and beverages. Many of these products require HPP to meet both food safety and distribution demands while maintaining freshness. This expansion reflects our customers’ increasing volume and the overall market momentum toward safer products with clean labels.
Q: How does this increased capacity support your strategic nationwide footprint?
A: Adding another Hiperbaric 525i strengthens our ability to serve customers with redundant capacity, faster throughput, and shorter lead times across our national network. It reinforces Universal Pure’s position as the only coast-to-coast HPP service partner with integrated cold-chain capabilities, enabling consistent service, flexibility, and scalability as customer demand grows. This machine brings our total HPP count to 23 machines across our national footprint.
The Partnership
Q: Why did you choose to work with Hiperbaric over other HPP equipment manufacturers?
A: Hiperbaric has been a long-standing and trusted partner to Universal Pure. Their commitment to innovation, operational reliability, and service excellence aligns with our own values and focus on delivering consistent, high-quality outcomes for our customers. As our network continues to grow, we look to collaborate with equipment partners who share our vision for advancing HPP technology and supporting our customers’ success.
Q: How would you describe the collaboration between Universal Pure and Hiperbaric over the years?

Our collaboration has been built on mutual trust, open communication, and continuous improvement. Hiperbaric’s technical support and responsiveness have helped us maintain operational excellence across our expanding footprint.
Q: What aspects of the Hiperbaric 525i were most decisive in your selection?
