We’ve got a juicy piece of news to share.
In April, one of our customers, Sofresco, celebrated the grand opening of its new manufacturing facility on our Malvern, Pa., campus. The company will be producing fresh juices and other products for the U.S., Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama markets.
They also are partnering with Universal Pure to HPP their juices.
We had about 100 people attend the event, including representatives from both companies, local economic development officials, and local and industry media. The celebration included remarks from Universal Pure, Sofresco co-owner Douglas Gilman, and the Portuguese ambassador to the U.S., Domingos Fezas Vital.
Attendees got a chance to tour the new facility and then participated in juice tastings and lunch. Highlight of the day was a ribbon-cutting ceremony commemorating the partnership between Sofresco and Universal Pure.
For us, the partnership means many things. It was the first time we engaged with an international juice company. It also is an example of the value-added services we bring. Sofresco now has the convenience of manufacturing its products and having them HPP’d in the same location. This approach reduces costs associated with logistics and enables them to get their product out the door quickly.
It saves time and money. By using Universal Pure, they also don’t have to worry about maximizing machine time, labor costs, and maintenance and repairs. Their juice is pressed and HPP’d within 24 hours. They can also use Universal Pure for cold storage and other post-production services. It’s a win-win for both companies.
Now that’s something to get juiced about!
